FINDINGS:
During the 2026 Olefins Unit Turnaround, visual inspection of C-403 (Deethanizer) revealed damage that exceeded the acceptance criteria per Internal tray tolerance, vendor drawing. Refer to the information below for specific dimensions of the aforementioned defects.
Downcomer apron sagged about 0.75 in at midspan. Seal pan clearance still within the fractionation tolerance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Option 1: Option 1: replace the downcomer panel now. Requires a tray removal sequence the schedule does not have.
- Option 2: Option 2 (recommended): monitor and replace at the next internal.
JUSTIFICATION(S):
The sag has not yet closed the seal pan clearance, so tower performance is unaffected this run.
